Installing wallpaper

First of all, you must check the conditions of the wall on which the paper will be installed, the wall must be smooth, if it has imperfections, such as scratches, coarse plaster grain, grouting, or other types of defects, the wall is not suitable for laying paper and a smoothing must be carried out, which consists in applying a layer of material of approximately 3 / 4 mm to make the appearance smooth, the materials normally used for smoothing are gypsum-based (for the internal walls), cement-based (which can be used for both internal and external walls) based on lime or stucco in paste. The most used are the first two, i.e. those based on gypsum and cement due to their workability and elasticity, these products are sold in powder form and must be mixed with water.
The tools needed for shaving are:: Chisel, hammer, brush and a metal spatula to eliminate all imperfections and if the wall is painted, the paint must be scraped off, to carry out the smoothing you need a trowel with a bucket to prepare the mixture and a spatula American (the one with the teeth on one side) to spread the shaving.

When the smoothing coat is dry, you can proceed with applying a coat of fixative to the wall, which can be done using wallpaper glue diluted with a little water and spread with a brush. When the fixative has dried, you can proceed with the application of the wallpaper which must be carried out following the following instructions: You need a sufficiently large support surface on which to spread the paper, it can be a table or two easels with a panel supported on top, place the paper with the visible side resting against the panel and on the back of the paper, spread the wallpaper glue which has previously been diluted with water with a brush. Once this operation is done, lay the wallpaper wall, starting from the top part (from the ceiling towards the floor), making sure that it is attached perfectly vertically and using the appropriate spatula to adhere the paper to the wall, eliminating air bubbles. Excess glue that may leak between the paper and the wall should be removed using a sponge soaked in water. The paper must then be trimmed using a cutter.
