Some elements that are present in the composition of perfumes, (called ingredients), have names that can mislead those who are not experts in this sector, I will give you some examples:
Musk or White Musk: derived from the glands of the Musk Deer, it is in fact a sexual attractant that also has effects on humans.
Zibetto: it is a small African mammal, from whose glands an essential oil is obtained, this secretion is used by the animal to mark the territory. A person who wears this essence arouses a fearful respect typical of predatory animals.
Ambergris: it is a derivative of the secretion of the intestine of the Sperm Whale, it has the property of fixing odors and make them long-lasting.
Castoreum: it is a substance that is obtained from the glands of male beavers, it is used mainly for men’s perfumes, it is considered an aphrodisiac.
Then, there are also substances easily traceable to the animal world, such as Beeswax and Honey, but it must be taken into account that for the production of perfumes over two hundred different elements are used, including oils and essences.
